The seminar is divided in to different strands based on past OWL training experiences. Each group is designed specifically for the needs of the educators at hand and includes sharing our successes and challenges, looking at student work, developing assessment rubrics, finding solutions to dilemmas, and building community through creating connections while improving our practice.
Areas of focus:
Day 1: Building a Foundation
Fostering positive relationships and classroom environment 100% in the target language.
Day 2: Questioning and Application
Creating a curriculum based off student driven interest and relevancy, while honing questioning techniques that push our students to the next level of acquisition.
Day 3: Structures and Feedback
Seamlessly incorporating authentic literacy and assessments into the classroom, and introducing systems of feedback which encourage our students to grow in the language.
