OWL Online PD: How to Use Prompts and Questions Online

Prompts- What should we ask our students to do and how should we ask them to do it? What will prompt the task, and what will the task be? This session will focus on how to develop prompts using the OWL Curriculum Triangle and the ACTFL Proficiency levels as the guiding foundations. These tools will aide in differentiating for our learners. Additionally, we will discuss strategies for high student-engagement and production in an online environment and how they are a direct result of the prompts we create.

How to Hold Students Accountable Online – With the challenges of online learning, we are actually given a wonderful opportunity with the platforms available to us to incorporate this element of PPATH effectively. We can check the completion of tasks and provide appropriate feedback and resources to fill in “gaps” discovered in the production process, while ensuring further development of communication skills.  Most excitingly, we can pull new threads to start the PPATH process all over again. This often-overlooked step is given new life in our online environment and can provide relevant content to keep students engaged!
