PROFICIENCY AND ENGAGEMENT TRAINING
The state frameworks lay out a roadmap to proficiency-based teaching and learning. They provide teachers with expectations and standards to apply to the classroom. OWL provides pedagogy, strategies and techniques to fulfill the frameworks. This training effectively bridges the gap from standards to everyday instructional practice in a way that produces consistent results. By bringing the standards to life and incorporating them seamlessly in our classroom, it allows students to see their growth and feel confident and successful in their language use.
Along with this, student buy-in is a challenge impacted by class structure and relevance of content. This interactive training will collaboratively demonstrate several examples of questioning strategies that achieve a target language environment and maximize engagement. Participants will engage in hands-on practice of questioning strategies that scaffold and naturally ‘push’ language growth, while keeping the content authentic. Based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, this training will focus on question samples at the Novice to Advanced ranges.
