How the ACTFL Level Affects Classroom Structure- January 22, 2020
Literacy at the Intermediate & Advanced Level – February 5, 2020
It can be difficult to know what kind of literacy is appropriate for our intermediate and advanced learners, and it can be even more difficult to find and choose what to use. This session will share language level appropriate examples of multiliteracies, and will offer a collaborative document of links, authentic resources and hooks on topics that are currently occurring in class. Participants will leave this session with a new understanding of what kinds of literacy will most impact acquisition, and some solid examples to use in class.
Assessment & Feedback at the Intermediate & Advanced Level– February 19, 2020
Assessment and feedback is unique to the language level of the students. This session will offer teachers a powerful ‘if, then…’ structure that aides teachers in providing students with the most appropriate feedback for their level. Along with this, assessment samples will be shared that relate specifically to the intermediate and advanced level. For all of you who have been wondering what this looks like at the intermediate and advanced level, don’t miss this session!
Creating a High Performing Classroom– March 4, 2020
Often times in class we can unknowingly and unintentionally halt language growth at the intermediate and advanced levels by limiting what students can do. This session will offer a clear description of which functions and text type, as well as content and context will best support and grow students language at this level. We will also explore questioning strategies, activities and structures that most benefit students at this level of language.
