Take part in a typical day and see students and teachers in action in this OWL Visitation & Training Days, Friday – Saturday, November 7-8, 2025. You will get the privilege of joining master teachers Dan Call and Katie Martin, Spanish teachers, and Tara Dietzen, Japanese teacher, in their classes with their students.
Friday: 7:45 am – 3:15 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am – 3:00pm

Visitation Day – Friday, November 7
You will spend time in their student-centered, proficiency-based classes observing and reflecting on strategies and techniques for a variety of levels. See how movement, pairings and groupings, speaking and literacy are cohesively brought together in one class period. Classes will be in Spanish and two classes in Japanese. Debriefs will be in English. Since many aspects are so visual, a non-speaking Spanish or non-speaking Japanese teacher will still benefit greatly from the experience. There is a possibility of a student panel, which will be confirmed prior to the visitation day.
Pre-reqs: Recommended for all teachers, with or without previous OWL workshop attendance.
Goals:
- Lab time: Observe and participate with students and teachers in an authentic environment
- Hear from students about their experiences (when possible)
- Q&A time and Debrief with the facilitators
- Receive materials to effectively reflect and debrief

Workshop: Saturday, November 8, 2025
8:00 am – 3:00 pm
The perfect pairing with the Visitation Day. Get personalized time with Dan Call, OWL Facilitator and ACTFL Teacher of the Year Finalist, to further debrief what was seen Friday, and apply to your own classroom. This is a hands-on day where you will be able to ask questions, plan for your classes, further understand the role of SLA (Second Language Acquisition) to your teaching practice and more!
